Procurement Specialist

A Procurement Specialist is a person responsible for providing advice and assistance on the procurement process to ensure that the agency can buy what it needs to buy when it needs to buy it. Simple to understand. Not so easy to implement.

Successful applicants will be assigned to a specific government agency and will be working with various stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Procurement Specialist Job Description

Help the Commonwealth department or agency undertake procurements in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, PGPA Act, and any other applicable policies
Manage and oversee the whole procurement process, from procurement planning to contract execution - this could involve open market approaches to market, procuring off a panel through a Deed of Standing Offer, or undertaking a limited tender approach.
Draft or provide advice on Work Orders or Official Orders issued under a panel.
Support and implement processes to give effect to the Commonwealth Procurement Rules or Finance Connected Policies.
Identify and manage procurement risks, and propose possible process improvements.
Ensuring reporting requirements mandated under the CPRs are met.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Ideally a minimum of 2 years of experience in providing procurement services in a Commonwealth department or agency
Knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, PGPA Act, PGPA Rules, Finance Connected Policies, an understanding of probity rules is a strong plus.
Excellent verbal, written communication, and negotiation skills
Effective planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Highly analytical with strong attention to detail

Salary Range

$80,000 to $235,000+

Security Clearance

Ideally you would hold, or be able to get, a Commonwealth security clearance at the TSPV, NV2, NV1 or baseline level.
